Help Needed on Switzerland!

My boyfriend and I are heading to Switzerland at the end of February. We are going to be based out of Zurich, but planning to head to Interlaken mostly for the nightlife and then on to Engelberg for a few days of skiing. Can anyone recommend nice, but reasonably priced hotels in these areas and/or must see things to do??

Thanks!

Are you kidding about Interlaken and the nightlife? I was there in 1989 and back then, there was no night life to speak of. There was a tiny casino...that was it.

She's got me stumped too. Personally, I would go to Ischgl (Austria) for skiing and nightlife. Or St. Anton, which is nearer to Zürich. Switzerland is not a party country, unless you like Fasnacht or lively folklore evenings among the locals.

Interlaken and night life is an oxymoron!

There's more of that in Zuerich.

As for skiing and some night life, look to Davos, Arosa.

Glad to see someone going to Engelberg. We've stayed at these hotels and would happily stay at both again:

Hotel Garni Belmont - www.belmont-engelberg.ch

Hotel Sonnewendhof - www.treff-hotels.ch (Note: there are a couple hotels in the Treff chain - some very expensive, but Sonnenwendhof is a nice reasonable *3 place)

Both these hotels are walking distance to the train station.

Restaurant recommendation - Gasthaus Engel Restaurant (by the monastary)

Have a good trip!

Apparently we were misinformed about Interlaken. Thanks for your advice.
