Help needed in Florence

Any idea why a tri-band Motorola, ( I verified it is unlocked) V66 will not get any service using a TIM card?

Italy uses a GSM phone system, by far a better system. Unless you have a GSM or GSM/Digital combination, the phones in the USA will not work.

Many phone providers offer a GSM phone rental. The probelm is that they charge $1.25-$1.50 per minute plus the rental. You can get a calling card for a land line for much less.

My GSM motorola recently worked calling US from Turkey and Greece, and from India last year. Hoping it will work from Tanzania this winter.
