Help needed in Florence

Any idea why a tri-band Motorola, ( I verified it is unlocked) V66 will not get any service using a TIM card?

If you repost your question with a more specific title, you're likely to get a response.

Italy uses a GSM phone system, by far a better system. Unless you have a GSM or GSM/Digital combination, the phones in the USA will not work.

Many phone providers offer a GSM phone rental. The probelm is that they charge $1.25-$1.50 per minute plus the rental. You can get a calling card for a land line for much less.

My GSM motorola recently worked calling US from Turkey and Greece, and from India last year. Hoping it will work from Tanzania this winter.

Thanks to all. I do have a GSM Triband unlocked. I have given up and have managed to do without.
