Check out hotelboulevard.com. I used it took book a hotel on a recent visit and it worked very well. You can search by catagory, area, etc. and the site includes customer reviews of the hotels.

The Hilton is not what I'd call elegant. Hotel le Tourville generally receives the best reviews in that area. But, you may have a tough time booking anything for those days at this late date. Try www.paris-hotel.com or do a search for "hotels paris". There are a dozen or more fabulous websites. Don't bother with the one or two that charge a fee. Another good site for maps of places in Paris (you can type in the name or address and get a photo and/or a detailed map)is www.pageszoom.com

Also, the Frantour Suffren is right next door to the Hilton. Not what I'd call elegant, either, but we liked it just fine. Great piano bar with knowledgable bartenders.

My Fodor's guidebook recommends
the hotel Jardins du Trocadero as a good value, combining elegant decor with modern conveniences. Also mentioned is the Keppler, small hotel, spacious rooms. For more info on these and other hotels, try the
www.hotelboulevard.com or www.paris.org
websites, or go elsewhere on this Fodor's website, and check out the "miniguide" section where you can specify your hotel interests and have them make suggestions.

We stayed at the Hotel Powers last December. It is small, quiet, 4 star. Our room had a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower - especially at night. The designer shops are on the same street - Versace is right across the street.
