Maybe Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "100 years of solistude," may fit in on that list.

www.buy.com and www.overstock.com typically are 10% less than Amazon.
I have used buy.com for years without any problem.

Mimi, that was another great book I enjoyed reading! My son always gives me books as gifts and that was one of them.

This was my favorite book of the year! I loved it so much, I'm going to read it again soon. I can see where people compare it to Gabriel Garcia Marquez, but not 100 Years of Solitude--more like Love in the Time of Cholera. IMO it's a much easier read than Foucault's Pendulum--faster and more plot driven.

Oh, do I love this book!

According to my copy it was originally published in Spanish as La Sombra del Viento by Editorial Planeta, S.A., but it doesn't say what year though the original copywrite by Carlos Ruiz Zafron was 2001, so I assume that's when it was first published in Spain. First U.S. publishing was 2004.

Shadow of the Wind is my favorite book this year. Beautiful images, mystery and a bit of the supernatural, and a reverence for books and literature. Hope others will take a look.
