Help me in Austria

Hello,

I'm planning to spend 4 days next May in Austria outside Vienna. These are my plans:

1st day - Vienna / Linz / Graz (Night)
2nd Day - Graz / Salzburg (Night)
3rd Day - Salzburg (Night)
4rd Day - Salzburg / Innsbruck (Night)

I would welcome your comments on this route. Also, advise on hotels.

Thanks,

Joao

My initial thought is that you are moving pretty fast.

I agree, too much, too fast for such a beautiful country. Settle in in Wien for 4 days and get to know it the right way or maybe three in Wien and one in Salzburg.

Sorry,

Maybe you didn't understand. The 4 days that I mention, exclude Vienna, because I'll be there for 3 days. After, I want to spend 4 days in Austria and I was thinking of doing that route.

Thanks,

JP

I didn't find a huge amouunt of unique stuff in Innsbruck. I would skip that town in favor of Hallstadt in the Saltzkammergut or you might slip over the border into Germany to see Herren Chiemsee just off the Munich autobahn or the salt mines at Bertschsgaden (sp). May is a great time to visit the area.

You may want to consider a night in the Wachau valley area, which starts outside of Vienna and follows the Danube to the town of Melk. This was one of our favorite areas of Austria, with wineries, castles and great bicycling.

Thanks for all the help until now. I think that after your comments and checks in the net, I've come to a draft conclusion:

Day 1 - Vienna / Melk, etc. (along the Wachau valley) / Aschach an der Donau (night at the Hotel FaustSchloessl)

Day 2 - Salzburg

Day 3 - Salzburg / Halstatt (night at one of their hotels)

Day 4 - Halstatt / Graz

Day 5 - Graz / (return)

Thanks again for all the help and I'm still opened to some finetunning,

Portela

I like it ! May is a good time. I am glad you are doing Hallstatt--stop in St. Gilgen enroute and boat the Wolfgangsee if time permits. Good luck !
