Help! Itinerary for London-Paris and another suggested destination
Any suggestions on how to schedule my itinerary? I am going to London on May 23 and plan to go to Paris via Eurostar for 4D/3N on May 31. I have June 3-8 to spare for another trip.
1. This is my 2nd trip to the UK so I'm now planning to go outside of London for sightseeing. I got suggestions for Canterbury, Oxford and Dover. Are they any good?
2. Any suggested itineraries (and cheap hotels) for a 4 day trip in Paris? I'm not very particular regarding accomodations as long as it's clean, the location is convenient, and it has internet access.
3. Which is a good place to go to after Paris - Prague, Venice, Milan, Florence, Barcelona, Milan for a good 5 days? I just need to get back to London by June 8.
This will be my first time really travelling in Europe and I don't think I'll be able to go back anytime soon so I want to make it as worthwhile as possible.
Any travel tips in these destinations are very much appreciated!

1. I have never been to Canterbury or Dover, but I enjoyed Oxford. However, I liked Bath the most so I would also tell you to consider it!
2. Four days will allow you to see a lot of what you want to see in Paris. Walking is definitely an option, and the metro is probably the best way to get around. You can buy a day pass or a carnet of 10 tickets, depending on your usage.
You can definitely see everything from the outside in two days, but if you want to visit the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower, you need to plan on waiting a bit before you get in. Also, make sure that if you are going to visit the museums, that they are open. For instance, the Louvre is not open on Tuesdays. Most museums have one day when they are closed. It looks like you will be here on the first Sunday of the month of June, which is free museum day. I recommend taking advantage of it, although expect to wait in line!
3. You could see a couple of cities in Italy in your 5 days. Venice really only needs one full day and you could take a train to Milan or Florence from there. I have never been to Milan, but Florence is beautiful and can be seen in just a couple of days! My favorite part was going to the Piazzale Michelangelo, which looks over Florence. We walked up a path which took us out of the city and it was amazing.
Hope this helps a little!

2. If you're talking about going to Paris this June (not June 2009), you'd better start looking for hotels NOW. June is high season and you may have a hard time finding hotels, esp cheap and good ones. What is your budget? ARe you looking for single room or double room?
3. Amsterdam would be a fine destination for 4-5 days. You can easily do daytrips out of Amsterdam to Haarlem or Delft etc.

Thanks for the free museum day tip! We scheduled our trip to the Louvre early morning sunday.
And when I saw yk's note I immediately booked a hotel. I was surprised by the cancellation notice though. It said I can still cancel early morning of my arrival without a fee. I got an Ibis hotel so that it's cheap and reliable, and it's near a metro station.

From Paris you can easily visit Brussels, Brugge, Ghent, and Amsterdam in 4-5 days you have. My DH and I just got back and loves Brugge and Amsterdam very much. From Amsterdam there is a eurostar train to London, so thats an option if you need to got back to London.

Amsterdam I think you can see in 4/5 days, Paris...not quite. There is a lot to see in such a short amount of time. Consider a bus tour to get an overview, then pick an area each day for exploring.
As a first pass Areas could be: The Islands, The Left Bank, the Marais, Louvre, Montmartre, Eiffel Tower.
Walking tours, such as Paris Walks are also a good way to see a neighbourhood with a 'local'
Make up an itinerary and we can help. Let us know what interests you (museums or not, shopping, street markets, architecture, parks ,etc..)
