Help! Information on Danube Christmas market river cruise post, Please.

Hi,

I read a review the other night on a Christmas Market cruise on Fodor's that was very detailed about the stops, Nuremburg to Vienna. I didn't make a note of the heading. I was telling my husband about the trip and now he wants to do the cruise this December. I can't find the post, again. It was a GCT cruise, I think, but not the post from polly. Can some of you help me.

Just put gct.com into the internet and you can access all the info of their river cruises. My daughter and I did one of their Christmas market trips in December, not the cruise, a land trip and it was wonderful. However I expected as much since I have traveled with Grand Circle 13 times. Have a great trip. Halfpint

It might have been my Underhill's Danube Christmas Cruise Trip Report. If you can't find it, e-mail me at

[email protected]

and I'll send it to you as a word document. I've tinkered with it a bit; so that way you'd get an updated version.

Hi CWN -

Oh, you're in for a treat! I took a Christmas Market cruise with GCT and had a ball. The one I took started in Vienna and ended in Nurmberg. The cabin was very clean, the staff was very helpful, and the food was quite good. They are a pretty good value because they include your airfare, cruise, and 3 meals a day. I highly recommend taking the optional day trip to Salzburg that they offer, and if you do, grab lunch on your own in the Christmas Market instead of eating the group lunch at the restaurant because the meal isn't very good and you'll waste 2 hours of your precious time in Salzburg. (The nice couple that sat near me on the bus to Salzburg gave me that great tip, and I'm so glad that they did because the group that did go for lunch described the meal as lousy.) Hope that helps, and have a wonderful time!

Ditto about the lunch--great waste of time and taste buds. I found the GCT cruise to be a terrific value, and the meals on board the ship were really, really good. I still dream of the breakfust buffets.

Did this same cruise solo in 2006, Vienna to Nuremberg (Nurnberg)with GCT, excellent. I was on the River Rhapsody, nice ship, good food and met lots of nice people. I didn't feel out of place at all and in turn made a few life long friends. The river cruise itself was very enjoyable, the included tours done well, a good value for the money. I did not take the extension to Salzburg as I've been there several times, instead I chose to enjoy my day in Linz and on board the ship. Have you looked at the website for GCT and their detailed information? I'm sure you will both enjoy the trip.
Have a great time,
Susan

was it one of these?

Or there are many MANY more threads . . .

The search function works great. Use the "advance search" option. I used 'Vienna GCT Christmas cruise' and a 3 year range - but you can add any other words you know were in the thread.
