HELP! I am going to Paris next week and still don't have a hotel room!

HELP! I am planning a last minute trip to Paris and just confirmed my airline tickets which i git with frequent flyer miles. I don't have a hotel yet and I have tried a few of the obvious bargain hotels and they are either higher than my budget or fully booked. Any ideas or suggestions?

I have already tried the Britannique, Caron de Beaumarchais, Jeanne d'Arc, Louis II, Therese and Danube with NO luck. Yes, I am also trying Priceline too...

Any ideas on other to try? I am hoping for a rate of 100 euro or less for a single room in a good area (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th arr's)

Thoughts?

Try the places listed on eurocheapo.com or go to www.webscapades.com - - they have a toll-free (US) number with live English-speaking operators on duty.

Chances are that if you are not TOO picky (perhaps you don't have anything at this late date because you have been too picky) - - you will have a reservation by the end of your telephone conversation with them.

Best wishes,

Rex

How about Muguet in the 7th. Good quality, inexpensive hotel. I believe singles are under 100 Euros, doubles not much more...

Forget Muguet. That hotel is so popular (a Rick Steves favorite also) for sure you will not get a reservation-unless someone just happens to cancel maybe.

Richardab, you've posted here a while now & I'm sure you've seen people mention laterooms.com. That would be helpful I'm sure.

Message: Hi there,

I stayed here it's called the Familia Hotel and I can recomend this. The hotel is on the Left Bank and close to the Notre-Dame & Metro stops, it sounds like this would work for you.

You can find it on Fodors Paris hotels. Also right next door, same owners, is the Minerve Hotel www.hotel-paris-minerve.com. I found the first one in a Fodors travel book on Paris. Good rates. location, clean & friendly too.

Also for Italy if you look on www.guestinitaly.com they have both a Paris and Italy section with a good variety of listings with great descriptions.

Good luck & have fun! Eileen

Try Hotel Residence Monge in the Latin Quarter. They have a listing online if you do a search for it. We booked online and then faxed our credit card info to confirm. We enjoyed it there and paid 95 euro per night for a double with A/C.

Good luck.

I am trying to avoid the Latin Quarter. This area has too many bad memories from the 80's of me staying in cheap hotels, hating them and everything else about Paris.

Times have changed. I can afford $25 more a night now!

You might try Hotel Daguerre. I stayed there several years ago and enjoyed it. It is along a street that is typical for Parisians with flower shop, butcher, fruit store, etc. Very charming area. Ask for a room facing the back for peace and quiet.

The Hotel Deux Acacias, near the Arch, is a small, inexpensive hotel in a quiet upscale area. Give them a try.

I think that you will find that the neighborhood has changed somewhat.

It's the 7th, but try the renovated Hotel La Motte-Picquet. A single is still under $100 and it's not as pospular at Muguet etc...

www.parishotels.com

Allows you to search by date, so you don't waste time looking at places that don't have availability. Has a great selection of hotels in all price ranges. You can narrow your search by area, number of stars, etc., and then sort by price.

This is where I would start. Once you've found a few places that *have* rooms you can afford that look appealing, text search here and/or on tripadvisor for feebdack.

I got a last minute (3 days ahead)single at the Hotel du Champ des Mars in April for under 80E. It's on the rue Cler in the 7th, and the room, while small, was exceptionally nice.
