Help! hotel in Chartes (or nearby) for group of 12
We(two families,8 kids)are travelling in France mid-July, spending a week in a villa in Provence, then heading back to Paris. The dads will take the rental cars to CDG, the moms/kids will head to Paris for a couple nights before we leave. We'd love to spend that last night together in or around Chartes--any thoughts? merci!

I do not know what type of hotel you want, however, I think that you have to make the reservation soon, as you need many rooms.
We stayed in 2002 in a nice hotel, centrally located:
Hotel Jehan de Beauce
[email protected]
Fax 02.3.72.15.910
Tel. 02.3.72.10.141
The price was 52 euro per room, plus 5
Euro the breakfast / person.
It was very clean. But maybe you can find also a villa, to accommodate easier all of you..

The Ibis hotel has parking, is an easy walk from the cathedral and is very moderately priced. It's in a pleasant location and the hotel is very used to families. Downsides: bland decor, overpriced breakfast (take everybody out to a local cafe/boulangerie) and the on-site restaurant was a disappointment, even for our very modest expectations, on the night we dined there. But I think they have a kids' menu.

P.S. when hunting for hotels online, don't forget that extra "r" in Chartres.
FYI, the Ibis Chartres Centre runs about 70 euros per night and is air conditioned. Large size "family" rooms are available...but you need to contact the hotel directly to book those.

It's ben a number of years, but I had a decent stay at the Best Western, right in the center of Chartres. There are many Best Western affiliates in Europe and they are not at all like the "motel" you might picture in the US.
Hae you checked tripadvisor.com (I did not, before posting this)...
Best wishes,
Rex
