Why not just put little Star in the cargo hold with all the other pets, then no one will have to hold her.You can get some really nice cages I'm sure she will be comfortable.
Terrible momofstar why not just give up the baby to someone who will actually care about her and put her first.JUST REMEMBER A BABY IS FOR LIFE NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS.Star really needs a loving caring family and that does not sound like you.

Hi star's mom, you sound like you are doing just fine considering the balderdash you are getting here! I've been in a similar situation where a grandmother changed her mind about taking care of the grandchildren; it's inconvenient but also not worth creating a crisis. Here are a few (gentle) suggestions:
Make a schedule for the babysitter each day. Trade off a few times so the babysitter sits in the evenings, so you can go out. Star is probably more fun during the day (for you!) anyway, and you can see what a different experience you have as a couple sans Star, and as a mommy with her in tow. Take her on your back sometimes; it may be more fun for her and handier for you (think subways & buses). Take it easy for the first 3 days to allow plenty of time and attention for Star and adjustment to jet lag.
By the way, 'Sterre', or Star, is a fairly common girls' name in the Netherlands.
Enjoy!

momofstar: Congratulations on altering your plans for what sounds like a wonderful vacation! Your family and the babysitter will have a great time, especially with the 2-city itinerary.

Also, kudos to you for ignoring all of the rude, opinionated people here. I am glad you are able to rise above it and just ignore them. Fodors' forum is getting really horrible with people who have nothing better to do than judge others.

How about the rest of you grow up, and get a life!

I think you should let the nanny take care of the baby at least one or two evenings so you can enjoy a leisurely dinner out & some fabulous London Theater, just the 2 of you. In exchange, you can give her some time off during the day to go off on her own to shop or whatever. You can make those 'light' days where you just stroll around Hyde Park or whatever. Many people have no choice but to travel with their small children. If you do a search and read some prior threads you will find wonderful tips for flying and traveling with an infant.
And don't be so hard on your Mom, 3 weeks is a long time. Have a great trip!
Ellen, thanks for your helpful suggestion about the mobile. It is a great idea since I am the worrying type and will always be calling the nanny checking on star. I also would love to take star to parks so while I bond with my daughter I will let the nanny enjoy her trip.
