Help Barcelona Accommodations
Hello,
We are looking for help with Barcelona accommodations. We are 2 adult women with our 2 teenage sons. We want to be somewhere safe but are on a budget. We are having a hard time finding something for beginning of August. El Born area sounds interesting. Is is a safe area? Looked at apartments but they had a lot of extra fees. Wondering what hotels people recommend. We have asked about Hostal Orleans (doubles at 53 euro each)but have not heard if they have rooms yet. Found a Bed and Breakfast run by Makritt 4 or 5 metro stops above Placa Cataluna. Can't find any info or recommendations for that. Also found Hotel Cuatro Naciones at Ramblas 40 but it is right by Placa Reial which some guide books warn is a bad area. We are feeling quite confused. Does anyone know about any of these options? We prefer to share a quad but can't seem to find one. Can anyone make other recommendations?
Thanks so much,
Ann

I rented an apartment for a weekend in Barcelona last year and it was very reasonable. It was just off La Ramblas in the Barrio Gotic. I can't remember what it cost, but it worked out cheaper than a hotel in a similar location. The website we booked from was www.oh-barcelona.com. The apartment was in a fantastic location and was very clean and well equipped.

Hi advantage10,
If you click on my name(in blue above this message) you'll find a list of all the threads I have made postings on. Included among these are quite a number relating to budget accommodation in Barcelona. You'll also find my trip report which gives details of my stay in adjoining rooms at the Hostal Girona (www.hostalgirona.com).
Hope this helps,
Jim

We just returned from Barcelona (2 adults & 3 teenagers. We stayed in the Gracias area in Hotel ApartSilver (www.hotelsilver.com). Price was reasonable and accomodations clean. Easy access to metro which will get you wherever you want to go. Busy but safe neighborhood as far as I could tell. Well recommended in Tripadvisor web site

We are renting a 2 bed/2 bath apt from ApartmentsApart in Barcelona. We will pay about $148 euros for 4 of us. They have cheaper apts. that look quite nice. Their website is www.apartmentsapart.com and click on Barcelona. There's a map of where the apts are located. Good luck!
