http://www.thetrainline.com/

I think this is the official site of the train line. Check it out vs www.nationalrail.co.uk - prices should be the same I think sans a booking fee.

DO NOT USE THE TRAINLINE WEBSITE

No-one has ever demonstrated a lower price on that site than on a rail operator's own site: but every single booking made on the trainline involves a supplementary booking fee (which the train operators don't charge)

It can sometimes happen that operators offer web specials that don't get reflected in the prices shown at nationalrail.co.uk. For shorter journeys, it's rarely worth wasting time optimising the price by trawling for these specials on operators' own sites - but for longer ones, it obviously can be.

Thetrainline, however, will ALWAYS result in your paying higher fares than you need to.

I do a bunch of train trips every year and have found that trainline is always the most expensive of the agents.

http://www.redspottedhanky.com/ is now my tool of choice
