got a problem here guys. been on trenitalia.com and trying to buy a rail ticket from paris to rome. got an offer in a 1 st class sleeper for 75 euros but not sure if i can buy this for two reasons:

1. it's description is a global pass ticket and was wondering if it's like a supplement for one of those eurail passes. can i just buy it as a stand alone ticket?

2. can i get these posted out to me? it only seems to offer postage in italy?

any advice guys would be really appreciated. thanks.

i should add is it easier to buy from sncf.com?

Your description is too vague - can you quote verbatim the bit about the "global pass ticket"?

Somehow 75€ for 1st class sleeper doesn't sound right. Couchette 2nd class alone costs €130 (€80 when you're lucky to get a special).

You're right that a Eurailpass would not cover the sleeper part, it's just good for seated travel, and if it's a train with mandatory rservations even that seat would cost a little extra, so maybe the 75 is just the add-on for the sleeper, against either a pass or a regular seat-only ticket that you'd buy on top?

Try sncf, I found it easy - define France as the country of delivery and get it when you're in France (show your copies of the emails etc. and show the same cc).

The night trains between Paris and Italy both have only inclusive or "global" fares. You cannot buy a normal train ticket from Paris to Roma, then pay a supplement for a sleeper. Paris-Roma tickets are only sold with a reservation for a specific train on a specific date. The only exception is for people who have a rail pass covering both France and Italy, and they pay the discount pass fare for the overnight train.
Unless you have a rail pass for France and Italy, this fare is not relevant for you. However, if there are berths available, then you can pay the standard fare.

Since you will be in Paris, it would be easier to buy your ticket from SNCF. You can pick it up in Paris or have it mailed to you c/o your hotel.

You can get a 1cl double sleeper for 2 for 280E, which is about the same price as a 1cl couchette.

Your options are to have your ticket mailed to your hotel; get them from a SNCF boutique or at the train station; or collect them from a ticket machine up to the minute your train leaves.
