Where do I go to in Heathrow to get to the tube?

You know, they have signs at Heathrow that direct you to the underground.

A simple google search will direct you to Heathrow's website, and from there you could easily find out more regarding traveling by Underground:

There's only one line to Heathrow, the Piccadilly Line. It stops at the Knightsbridge station. Couldn't be easier.

In the front of the train it will show the train goes to Cockfosters, the last stop.

As has been said there are signs to direct you. Depending on which terminal you are using there can be a fair walk to the station. Be sure you can manage stairs with all your stuff. Piccadilly Line trains have a small spot beside each door for luggage.

I just gotta know....anyone know the history behind the stop/town, whatever of "Cockfosters"? Tell me it's interesting at least! My daughter and I saw that one last year when we were in London and thought that there just has to be an interesting history there....

Angela, if you plan to move around a bit in London, I suggest that you and Mr. Angela purchase Oyster Cards. They will cover your journey to Knightbridge and (back to Heathrow) and your journeys in London. If you use up all your credit you can, as with a prepay phone, top up.

Just my 2 cents.

If you can afford a last-minute ticket to London; staying at the Madarin Oriental hotel; dining at Gordon Ramsay and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, I bet you CAN afford taking a car service (or even a taxi) from Heathrow to your hotel.

But of course, the tube is cheap but it will take about an hour. It probably will be quite crowded as well given you're arriving ~9:30am.

tfl.gov.uk/journeyplanner will help you plan any trips on the London Underground. As others have said, your trip in from Heathrow couldn't be easier, it's a straight shot to Knightsbridge. The journeyplanner I believe gives an indication of how many steps you'll have to negotiate with luggage. As for Cockfosters, i.e. derivation of the name, try Google.
