No easy choices here, Kate.

Option 1. Tube to Piccadilly Circus, transfer to Bakerloo line to Charing Cross, train from Charing Cross to Greenwich

Option 2. Tube to Green Park, transfer to Jubilee line to Canary Wharf, Dockland Light Rail to Greenwich.

Maybe others will know easier options.

Kate,

Ron's right, it isn't real direct. But you can take the Tube from Heathrow to Cannon Street station, then transfer to a Connex train and go to Greenwich. Takes about 1 hour 20 minutes, on a good day.

For all the rail/tube combinations and permutations, go to:

http://www.rail.co.uk

select "Timetables", enter Heathrow and Greenwich in the Starting and Destination boxes.

If you are traveling with much luggage, I would not recommend the Tube. You might have to take the Heathrow Express train to Paddington rail station, then a taxi to Cannon Street or Charring Cross, where you could pick up a train to Greenwich.

Anybody else have ideas? Ben Haines, are you there?

Dave White
http://www.KidsToLondon.com
[email protected]

REVISED:

Kate, this was the message I was editing, but somehow, my I posted a previous version:

Ron's right, it isn't real direct. But you can take the Picaddilly line of the Tube from Heathrow to South Kensington, transfer to the District line and head to Cannon Street station, then transfer to a Connex train and go to Greenwich. Takes about 1 hour 20 minutes, on a good day.

For all the rail/tube combinations and permutations, go to:

http://www.rail.co.uk

select "Timetables", enter Heathrow and Greenwich in the Starting and Destination boxes.

For the details on the tube portions of any journey:

http://www.thetube.com

Select "Trip Planner".

If you are traveling with much luggage, I would not recommend the Tube. You might have to take the Heathrow Express train to Paddington rail station, then a taxi to Cannon Street or Charring Cross, where you could pick up a train to Greenwich.

What a mess....anybody else have ideas? Ben Haines, are you there?

Dave White
http://www.KidsToLondon.com
[email protected]

Fodors

To pass the long corridors and escalators of the deep level tube stations with luggage is hard, so I think the best idea is that in Mr White's second message, except that you should change from Piccadilly to District line by crossing the platform at Hammersmith, not by escalator at South Kensington. So I suggest Heathrow, Hammersmith, Cannon Street, Greenwich. Trains to Greenwich are four an hour, and the others more frequent, so there's no need to look up times: you can just take the first available train in each case.

Please write if I can help further.

Ben Haines, London
