Heathrow terminal 5 chaos
A lighter look at the chaos at the new T5 at Heathrow:

My only hope is that they have it all sorted before May as Ams flights are amongst those being cancelled

Typical gross oversimplification you expect from the British media. They always paint a one-sided picture.
Just look at the things this biased account misses:
- six months' endless press handouts telling us how wonderful it's going to be
- spokesmen for BA and BAA blaming each other
- BA telling us it's all getting better when the number of daily cancellations is actually growing
- a letter to customers denying them the compensation they're legally entitled to. Then a press release saying they they don't believe they're breaking the law (They are. And liable to a £5,000 per passenger fine. That won't leave much for the BA CEO's termination package)
- another load of old tosh from BAA telling us they're fingerprinting us because the UK government requires it. At the same time the UK government is saying they bloody well don't, and BAA's fingerprinting stunt's illegal
- the debate in every pub in the land over whether Little Willie (Walsh: the BA CEO, but not for long) or Loudmouth Mick (O'Leary, the Ryanair CEO) have done more damage to BA. Tough to tell: but either way, they're both Irish and this all smells of a Fenian revenge plot.

Ah flanneruk, I see you haven't lost your sense of humor in all this..
Actually much of what you say is correct but at the same time, a move this massive just had to have some bugs...whether they should have been to the degree they have proven to be is, of course, another story.
Wait now till the other airlines make their move this week into the vacated Terminal 4...we'll see how that goes.

lol that was a great reconstruction!
I would just be prepared for delays if you are coming in to T5 over the next week or so, they have a lot of 'teething problems'. Backage system breakdown plus lots of silly operational stuff (staff not getting through security clearance etc, which should be sorted out fairly quickly). Nothing you can do about it so just try to chill out and expect it. That way, if everything does go smoothly for you, you can be pleasantly surprised!

flanner, i'm happy to see:
-at least the start of an acknowledgment that we do fingerprint
-you turned your damn kettle off and are starting to demand better for our country instead of making tea and excuses like you were a couple of days ago.
...let's put the kettle on and we'll 'muddle through' ...rubbish!

Just read that unprocessed luggage (19,000 bags) at Heathrow is now being tranported down to Milan for sorting and then flown to its respective owners.
Mamma Mia!
