Heather Gem Jewelry

I am getting ready for my much-awaited trip to Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland, in a couple of weeks. While browsing the internet, I found Heather Gem Jewelry.

It seems to be so unique since it is said to be made from the Heather plant.

I would love to buy some small pieces for grand daughters. Wondering if other tourists found this sort of jewelry unique and affordable. Is it really worth spending time hunting for it?

Any advice, tips are appreciated.

Have a great day.

Heather Gem jewelry is readily available in most of the nicer tourist shops and is very affordable.

Yes, you will find it just about everywhere. No need to hunt. Even the gift shops in most castles and museums will have some. Some quite nice and some pretty schlocky.

Historytraveler and Janis, thanks for your input.

I hope to find something unique.

The best thing about jewelry is that it is tiny and no problem fitting in the suitcase in addition to being something totally different.

Have a great evening.

I agree, a great gift but be aware that like most things you get what you pay for. The typical tourist shop will sell Celtic crosses for £10, but you're likely getting something made in China. Pay a bit more and get something actually made in Scotland.

You can buy Heathergem products quite readily in the U.S. http://amzn.to/1gwwTAU

Mrs. sparkchaser has a few pieces, about half bought in Scotland and the other half bought in the U.S.

You can - but then it wouldn't be a memento/souvenir of Scotland . . .

Sparkchaser=thanks for your tip. But I plan to buy it in Scotland just for memories, nostalgia and maybe a unique experience when I chit-chat with a Scottish sales person.

This is how I make my fond memories during my travels.

Unclegus--thanks for the idea of visiting the factory. Will give it a thought.

Have a beautiful Monday.
