Close...Good memory, LoveItaly.

"Covered trip" means that the "trip does not exceed thirty-one (31) consecutive days. If a trip exceeds thirty-one (31) consecutive days, the first 31 days of the trip will be covered under this plan."

So it provides coverage for a month, which for us is more than enough!! I'm lucky to get two weeks from my DH! Anything more would be called retirement.

And it includes all those *things* Alanrow mentions.

Once again...here's to good health and safe travels!

Be sure to read the fine print of any insurance you are considering buying.

For example, someone mentioned medical evacuation back to the USA. While there are probably travel insurance policies that will provide this, most policies will only provide evacuation to the nearest medical facility capable of treating your condition, wherever that might be. Essentially worthless in most of Europe as there are capable medical facilities just about everywhere.

Thanks STW! So I guess my mind is still working properly.

Rufus, I sure agree, and always read the exclusions regarding coverage.

I will call AMEX one of these day and get a new packet of information regarding their insurance.

It certainly can be a grey area, RufusT. If the treating physician and insurer determine that it is medically necessary to tranfer you to a facility nearest to permanent residence, it can happen. I would imagine you would have to be one pain in the a$$.

However, one thing is certain, airfare costs for evacuation are covered.

Now, I'm gonna stop talking about all of this stuff -- it will be unnecessary, after all.
