Have you ever gotten a new "do" while in Europe? Loved it or hated it?

Seven years ago and six months before my wedding, I went to Paris for a weekend and spontaneously had my shoulder length hair cut short like Sharon Stone's. It looked fantastic (although my sister said, "You may have blonde hair like Sharon but you don't have her face!"
. Then when it needed a trim I went to my husband's barber here in Lausanne. I spoke no French yet and the barberette didn't speak English. The minute she put my head down and quickly ran an electric razor up the back of my head I started crying because this was not at all what I wanted, nor was it at all like the picture of Sharon that I brought with me.
Bottom line, my hair was shorter than my husband's on our wedding day. And I have not had a short haircut since.
