have you been to dijon?

Has anyone been to Dijon, France? Looking at it as a day trip from Paris via TGV. Is it worth going?

Dijon is a bit over 2 hrs on the TGV from Paris.
I think it would be a bit of shame to see it on a day
trip. Better to spend a few days in Burgundy seeing Dijon and some countryside and wine towns around there. You didn't say how much time you had in Paris, but Paris is a big place with lots to see...there are many other places closer to Paris which would make an easier day trip with less travel.

I was not particularly impressed with Dijon as a whole. Depending upon what you like, I'd recommend Lyon, Annecy (spectacularly scenic), Giverny instead.
Ellen

Dijon is my home-town, so I can tell you it takes exactly 1h36 to get there by TGV (one every hour from Gare de Lyon). If you want to know what a "regional capital" looks like in France, this is a good choice : the city can easily be visited on foot, it's got a wonderful medieaval centre, food is great, the museum is one of the best outside Paris. And in one day it's easily done. Forget Lyon (the drawbacks of Paris without its charm), Annecy (4h 1/2 hours from Paris) or Giverny (more Americans than in Orlando ! ).

Stayed 2 nights at Dijon in 94 and had a very enjoyable time there. Several reasonably priced hotels near the station. Lovely cathedral and St. Benigne with its atmospheric crypt, fabulous archaeological museum and the art museum near the town hall was very impressive. Plenty to keep you busy for 2-3 days just in the town itself.
