I haven't flown Spanair, but I'll tell you this. I flew from Barcelona to the island of Mallorca this past summer on an old, ancient Iberia plane, a terrifying experience. One day my husband and I were playing golf near the airport on Mallorca, right under the flight path. One Spanair plane after another landed at the airport, and they were all brand new planes. I vowed that if I ever returned to Mallorca, which I would love to do, I'd take the ferry or take Spanair. I'd be interested in what you find out.

Would you fly on a chinese, russian, nigerian, mexican or Garuda Airlines. If the answer is yes - you should have no problems with spanish airlines. Check the stats!! In the late 80's spanish airlines accounted for over 50%25 of total aviation fatalities worldwide. As a ex fixed wing captain and current helicopter captain - you could not persuade me to set foot upon any of the aforementioned aircraft

Graham - It might be possible to make some type of judgment about your information if you knew something about the language. Be sure to base you claims on correct data before spreading phony notions about safety. you know nothing about Spanair, and yet you demean their reputation and possibly worry folks gullible enough to take idiots like yourself seriously. Go somewhere else and leave sincere travellers alone.
