Has anyone walked the Vikos gorge?
We're in the Zagoria area of northern Greece for 3 nights at the end of September, staying in the village of Papingo. Weather and conditions permitting, we'd like to be able to walk in the Vikos gorge. Has anyone done this walk who can offer hints, tips and an idea of the difficulty involved?

Hi maria - I didn't hike the gorge - so no personal experience - but you're certainly in for a treat scenery-wise
I stopped in one of the villages for lunch ... and wished I'd had longer. The views are quite beautiful.
I expect you already found these:

Hopefully someone else will post with personal experience of the hike ...

Thanks Steve, there are some fantastic photos on the photoseek site. We have seen the gorge from the Oxia viewpoint (what a drop!!) on a day trip from Parga a few years back and wanted to return to explore the area further. I've managed to find a reasonable map - Anavasi, Zagori map at 1:50,000, all we need now is settled weather, some transport to the other end and willing knees! If we don't make the gorge walk itself, there looks to be plenty to explore for a few days in the area.
