Me,

Regarding your other questions:

a) Haven't used Europebyair.com as their cheap "pass" fares aren't available to European residents

b) Rome to Palermo on Lufthansa???? I think you mean Alitalia! Another airline which flies the route is Volare:
www.volare-airlines.com
(again, only in Italian)

Hope this helps,
Andre
Thanks GAC!

Forgot about Air One - however I wonder if LH would sell you a ticket from Rome to Palermo. They probably only sell the codeshare as a connector to a flight from Germany to Rome, e.g. Düsseldorf-Rome-Palermo.

BTW the web site for Air One is:
http://www.air-one.it/en/
(in English - hurrah!)

Hope this helps,
Andre

Acutally, Lufthansa does fly from rome to palermo without using it from the USA. I am using Continental from US because they were way less than Alitalia. So now I just need to get from Rome to Palermo and was trying to decide on Lufthansa or Meridiana. I was maybe going to use Europebyair.com if I was booking Merdiana.

Me,

That's interesting about Lufthansa - though their business rationale beats me.

Anyway, I would go with any airline which flies nonstop, namely:
- Alitalia
- Meridiana
- Air One / Lufthansa

The three factors to take into account are:
- price
- schedule
- the ability to check your luggage through to Palermo from the US (Continental will be able to tell you for which airlines this is possible)

Andre
