I have not stayed there. I think the location is good, very central. There won't be much in the way of street parking if you will have a car, but it's close to a big parking garage so you wouldn't have much of a problem.

We wont have a car in edinburgh - so that shouldnt be an issue.
Have you stayed in central edinburgh at all? If so, where and for how much.

Cambridge Street is on the west side of the City centre. It is located below the Castle and very close to Lothian Road and the west end of Princes Street so it is in a good location. The Traverse theatre is in Cambridge street and just round the corner is the Lyceum theatre and the Usher Hall). You can look at their websites to see if there are any shows etc ongoing during the time you are in Edinburgh. Subsequently it can get busy with people attending shows and Lothian Road has a lot of late night bars and restaurants so it is constantly busy however Cambridge Street is generally quiet.
You can easily walk into the Grassmarket or go up Johnston Terrace to Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and the Old Town attractions etc
Princes Street and Princes Street Gardens are very close if you wish to visit them.
Put Cambridge Street into the search boxes on multimap.com and you will see how close you are to the Old Town and the attractions.

StevieGene --

Have you figured out where you are going to stay on your way to and from Skye or what routes you are taking?

We reserved this 2 Cambridge St. in Edinburgh - and it looks very nice. But as for our routes, and where we are staying between Edinburgh and Skye - no I havent!
We want 2 nights in Edinburgh and 2 nights in Skye. As for the rest - we're just not sure. Im finding this vacation particularly difficult to plan.

How are your plans going?
I actually tried to top your post, and it would not let me post on it!

I have the same problem trying to top my post and planninf this vacation. I have just booked Arden house for our last night it is in Linlithgow and should be close to the airport. I booked it with a wonderful person from the Scottish tourist board.

good! We are looking for a place on our last night near the airport as well. When you get back you will have to let us know how it was.

If you are still in limbo...try starting a new post. Something like ---"Desperate for Scotland Itinerary Help! I leave in 8 days!" and maybe one of the experts will chime in! Sheila seemed interested in lending a hand, but your old post is "broken" or something. Good luck!!

I think I topped the thread that wasn't working.

As for where to stay your last nights -- Linlthgow or somewhere would be fine. But even Stirling is a really short trip from EDI - less than 40 miles and motorway all the way.
