Has anyone seen the Agatha Christy play "Mousetrap"? Is it worth seeing?

We are taking a "hosted" tour for four nights in London, and one of the included events is dinner and a show. The show is "Mousetrap". Has anyone seen it or read reviews? Given that we don't have to pay anything extra to see it, is it worth seeing? If "Mousetrap" is not worth seeing, is there something else that you would recommend?

Hi Cindy, <BR> <BR>"Mousetrap" has been playing in the west end for about a million years. I saw it on first trip to England about 15 years ago. Its very Agatha Christy, which means if you've read or seen much of her stuff its a little predictable. But its also very fun, and I'm sure the cast is always good. We had a great time, so since its included I would think its worth seeing. Its certainly not like going to one of the big Lloyd Webber spectacles, but its fun.

Hi. I saw that play years ago. It is the <BR>only play i ever fell asleep in. I had <BR>read all the Christie books when I was a <BR>kid and liked them but as an adult seeing the play I found it pretty dull. <BR> I would recommend seeing a better play <BR>if you have a choice. If you go on to <BR>whatsonstage.com they have reviews <BR>and opening and closing dates andyou <BR>can even order tickets through them. <BR> Joanne

If you were in Toronto, I would say that maybe it is worth it if english is your native language. <BR>I´m brazilian, but normally I understand english pretty well. Not in the canadian Mousetrap 3 years ago, though...

It is good, but only see it if you are looking for another play to see. London has so many wonderful productions that it can be hard to choose.

The Mousetrap in London is special because it so well acted. Warning: if you see it in London, you may never be satisfied with productions elsewhere because chances are they will not be as good. My son was 16 when we saw it and he thought at first it was on a big TV screen -- a testimony to the skill of the live performers.

Definitely see it. I've seen it three times - I know that's insane since after the first time you know whodunnit - but each time I go to London with someone different they want to see it and are never disappointed. Of course, make sure you see something else if you can, nothing really can compare with seeing a play in London. I suppose if you've never read Agatha Christie, don't get very excited about period plays, and are more interested in experimental theatre, The Mousetrap would be a waste of your time. Otherwise, I'd go for it.

If it is free, it will be worth every pence you pay for it. Otherwise, forget it, it is probably the most amateur of all the many theatre productions in London. It exists totally for the enjoyment of tourists, mainly tour groups to London. If you are not a theatre person, you might enjoy it. If you are into good theatre, go to any of the dozens of other better productions in London.

Yes, it is worth seeing. I've seen it twice including once with my 15 year old niece. She liked it too. The nice thing about seeing it twice was noticing the different intepretations of the characters.

I saw it in London some years ago. It was so bad I decided that it was a fraud on the public. Beware of popular British mysteries and comedies. Anything else is likely to be very good.

My daughter and I saw Mousetrap on March 22nd and really enjoyed it. It was everything a good english murder mystery should be, with all the proper characters, in an elegant old theatre, the St. Martin. I believe it cost L22 and we were't disappointed at all. Free? better yet! Saw Cats the night before, and fell asleep. Sorry, fans.
