We have been using Andrei at Peace Travel. He has been great in getting back to us in a very timely manner. We rented our apartment from him, used him for visa support and also to get train tickets. I think the train tickets were inflated (in addition to his fee) and we could have probably gotten them for less (but i can't say for sure!). But, I heard he was very good from a friend who knows people who used him and the company. We leave for Russia in two weeks, so I can let you know how it goes, but so far so good.

Back from our trip....As for Peace Travel, I do recommend them for planning. The Visa registration was very simple (would not need if you stayed at a hotel). He came to our apartment, took our migration cards and was back within an hour. As for the apartment, I wish we had done more research. It was too far away from everything. I wish we had stayed more centrally located/closer to Red Square. There are streets not too far away from Red Square, near the Marriott, that are closed to traffic (not old arbat) that have great cafes and restaurants. I wish we had been closer to that area. I can look on my map later and let you know the streets but they are off the main street of Tverasky, I think.
Also, the apartment building we stayed in wasn't the nicest..hallways were dirty, etc. The apartment was okay (different furniture than shown in the picture on the web) and definitely not as good as other apartments we stayed in while traveling (in St. Pete and Tallinn). It was fine, but nothing great.
Also, I do recommend arranging a guide in Moscow before you leave, at least for 1/2 a day, for the Kremlin and other things. We did not do that in Moscow and regretted it. We could have arranged for one on site, but did not do that. We had a guide in St. Pete for a day and that really helped (although St. Pete is a much more tourist friendly city).

Definitely avoid waytorussia.com and retline.ru We recently rented an apartment through rentline.ru – which apparently is part of waytorussia.com. The apartment was adequate but the customer service was horrible. We paid extra so we and our bags could stay in the apartment until 10pm – which is when we planned to leave to catch the overnight train to SPB. Imagine my horror when we arrived back from dinner at 8:15pm to find another family happily ensconced in our living room! A waytorussia rep had actually let them in since apparently they were going to be staying there after we left!
Our request to the waytorussia rep that the family leave and come back after we had actually checked out at 10pm was refused. As was our request for a refund of the late checkout payment. I would definitely avoid these two companies!
