Hampton Court Palace

We will be in London for just a 3-day weekend and would like to see Hampton Court Palace on our last day. I see buses run to Heathrow from there. Would it be a sensible plan to go direct from the palace to the airport? How long is the trip? We are on BA from terminal 4. We have no luggage to speak of to cart about. Our flight leaves at 20:00 so we would like to be at the airport around 17:00 or so. Thanks for your help.

I don't remember if HCP has a left luggage/cloak room. I would guess they do but not sure. I'd e-mail them to make sure.

It is easy but time consuming to take the bus from there to LHR. The route requires a couple of buses or the bus and tube. Check the journey planner on www.tfl.gov.uk

But it's a very short cab ride.

The no. 111 bus goes all the way from Hampton Court to Heathrow, but meanders through the suburbs and takes around an hour and a half. It's quicker to get off the 111 bus at Hounslow East tube station, then get the Piccadilly Line. Whichever way you do it, allow plenty of time as the roads get very congested on weekdays.

Another way, is to take the bus from Hampton Court to nearby Richmond, board South West trains to Feltham and take the bus that goes directly to Heathrow terminals from there.

Like I said - time consuming. Every route I looked up including the bus to Hounslow E. and tube to LHR takes 90 mins+.

A cab will be faster but will be quite expensive. Count on about £20 or more.

Thanks for all the input. Since there are two of us splitting the cost, a cab sounds like the way to go. Thanks again.
