Has anyone visited the Hambleton Inn lately?
Do you have recommendations for activities there?

There's a Hambleton Inn in North Yorkshire.

And a Hambleton Hall (and absolutely, by no means, inn) in Leicestershire. And that bit of Leicestershire was once called Rutland.

But there's nowhere in the civilsed world called Leichester.

I guess it's Hambleton Hall you're interested in. No, I've never stayed there (though anywhere founded by the great Bob Payton, God rest his soul, must be worth visiting).

But you'll get more helpful answers if you re-post, getting the place you're interested in right.

We were lucky enough to have stayed at Hambleton Hall back when it was nearly affordable, and our stay was very nice. We had a pretty, well equipped on the second (our third) floor, looking out over the back of the hotel to Rutland Water, with a spacious bathroom. Amenities included a bottle of Malvern Water, a real treat. Afternoon tea in the drawing room and dinner in the restaurant were both really marvelous. It's a wonderful place to stay.

Thanks for your help! My son is being married there in mid July and the wedding party has the entire place for the weekend.
They offer lots of activities, but some may be better than others for we ancients.
BTW, dad was a USAAC CAPT in War II, stationed in the UK when I was born.

I am not sure what you may be looking for, but popular things to do in the area would be -

1) Burghley House in Stamford - an rather impressive Elizabethan House

2) Stamford itself is nice, with lots of very old buildings and a number of organised historic walks available.
3) Rutland Water itself has a number of activities, but I'm sure Hambleton Hall would have all of those sorted out for you
4) Some of the surrounding villages are very pretty. Close by is Exton, and if you dare, you can sneak in and have a look at Exton Hall (a private estate, but very attractive grounds and house
5) Rockingham Castle is not far, as well as Belvoir Castle (pron. Beaver).

As you are at Hambleton Hall, I guess you more than have the food side of things covered, so I shan't mention good pubs etc.

Hambleton Hall was world class - bachelor dinner for 55 on Sat and the wedding dinner on Sunday for 57 were super. Many stayed overnight Sat and most overnight Sun. Too bad many paid in USDs, lol!
