Hall in Triol

Hello,

I am planning a trip from Germany to Austria and am wondering if Hall is a good 1 night stop or more of a few hour visit? My plans don't allow for too much more. I will be in Fussen for 2-3 nights and in Salzburg for a few nights. On my way I have room to stay in Hall or I can just drive through.

I'm not at all familiar with the area. My travel budy is somewhat limited in walking, so we wont be doing any hiking. We will probably be all castled out, so nice too interested in that type of site seeing at this point in the trip.

Are their nice activities in and around Hall?

Thanks fo your help.

Oh well, it's too many people there imho. If I'd were looking for city life, I'd prefer Innsbruck. Hall is in a wide valley, which is pretty at first sight but with unbearable traffic during rush hours. If "nice activities" are not walking, what would they be?

If I had to stay in the area, I'd pick Mayrhofen (lot's of tourists too.) or Gerlos. Some would suggest Maurach/Achenkirch, that is an option too and very close but not really exciting.

I would go somewhere else, you're SO close to some really nice areas. Check out Ischgl, Galtür, Samnaun, Vinschgau... It that's all too far, Gerlos would be my next pick, but Hall i.Tr. not really.

Hi,

We stayed in Hall in Tirol on three seperate trips. In our opinion, Hall in Tirol is charming and more "authentic" feeling than Innsbruck. We stayed each time at the Gasthof Badl. Nice place, simply wonderful owners/hosts, good restaurant and great views of the Alps. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Badl into the old town pedestrian zone. For dinner, besides the Badl's restaurant, we loved the Burgtaverne in Burg Hasegg, right across the footbridge (over the Inn) from the Badl.

If you prefer more of a village atmosphere, Mittenwald, Germany is 45 minutes away. The quintessential Bavarian village surrounded by mountains. We stayed in Mittenwald at the Pension Schwalbennestl twice, but there's quite a number of stairs there.

We also love the Zillertal. Spectacular scenery and as far as towns go, we liked both Zell am Ziller and Mayrhofen. We stayed in Finkenberg at the Gaestehaus Bergland and loved it! Can't wait to go back. Beautiful scenery, no, stunning scenery.

I've been to Hall-in-Tyrol three times in different seasons. Charming is a good word for it. Park and walk in the village center.
