Just returned from a few weeks in europe and BBC TV was the only EnglishTV channel on my Dutch B&B room tv -and this story, about folks being snowed in at England's highest pubwas repeated over and over

Well i can't imagine a better place to be snowed in - as one marooned guest said 'they kept their spirits up'

Sounds like you weren't getting real BBC.

In Holland you can usually get BBC1 and BBC2, which are proper TV stations. But sometimes you find yourself stuck somewhere showing BBC World: a grisly parallel universe, dominated by hourly news bulletins, where the same stories get interminably recycled in a TV equivalent of Groundhog Day.

Only life repeats itself not every day but every hour.

Then there's the trailers. And if there's one thing worse than yet another BBC documentary about global warming, it's seeing the same trailer for it every ten minutes.

Mind you: if it's -15 outside when it's been +3 that day for the past century, you do have the fun of debating the Beeb's sense of timing. And whether they're still the hallmark of journalistic objectivity or merely the propaganda machine for Islington do-gooders.

how we britons survived wwII is a mystery. the whole south of england has been at a standstill now for 3 days due to a moderate snow storm on tuesday night. and we are bracing ourselves for nearly complete shut down again going into next week...merely because it will remain cold. i guess if nature doesn't remove the snow on her own, it aint gettin moved.

i don't know much about wwII but if our actions in wwII are similar to how we are handling this storm, i suppose we must have all hidden in the bunkers until someone or something else took care of the evil germans. we're pathetic pu££ies. how can we even try to be a globally competitive nation when a little snow brings down the country for days? it's been 3 days now! get some goddarn snow removers on the roads and let's get this godarn counry back in business! what the heck is wrong with us?

similar problem to other places, when faced with what to spend their money on, have higher priorities than buying snowplows. unfortunately.

After having spent two extra days in Dublin due to a massive snowstorm that brought the airport to a standstill (i.e. one full centimetre of snow), I assume that the only remedy for that part of the world may be waiting for global warming.
