I remember that time, Heimdall! Lee was staying at someplace fancy was it called Something Castle?? Funny, I think that was the trip where I also finally go up to Ancient Thera. Taxi to the top turn-around, then scrambling up a goat-path to the top. Luckily 2 of my companions were architects, so they were able to discourse learnedly on the ancient rubble ... I was just busy enjoying the fabulous View! I certainly remember the walk DOWN to sea level ... we made bets on how many horseshoe bends in that Steeep road, I said 23, there were 21.

I'm not sure, TJ, but I think it was Oia Castle Hotel, which had amazing views. I remember it was overlooking the balcony where scenes from the "Travelling Pants" movie were filmed.

Yeah, that was a cute movie, but it resulted in lots of misled teen girls putting Santorini on the must-see list, only to find that handsome local boys are not hanging around to take you to their family gatherings... and that the place is not as uncrowded and serene as depicted. Ah well, part of being a gullible teen -- I remember my rose-colored dreams of Manhattan, way back when (altho, like Santorini, it did have its moments!).
