Women's World Cup travel
Hello! My husband and I are traveling to France this summer with a group and extending our stay to finally witness a Women's World Cup (something I've wanted to see since I was a little girl!). Team USA got a favorable draw and we've already purchased tickets to the games we plan to see - one group stage game and one knockout stage game. The difficulty comes with hedging our travel plans in case the ladies don't win their initial group. If they win, they will play in the Round of 16 in Reims. We've never been to Reims, so plan to stay a couple of days there regardless. If they lose, they will play in Paris instead. So, if we need to get to Paris from Reims on game day, it will be an easy train ride there. However, the game is at 21:00, and we likely wouldn't be out until around 23:00 or later. Looking at the Rail Europe schedules, it doesn't seem that there are any trains that return to Reims that late. So, I have two questions. First, what would alternatives be for getting back to Reims? Or would we be better off losing out on that last night of hotel money in Reims and trying to find a hotel in Paris with 4 days notice? Second, does Rail Europe tend to add trains during events like this? That is to say, would it be possible that we could actually get back around midnight? Thanks in advance - I'm sure we'll have several more questions as our trip planning progresses!
