Great Hotel in Ireland
I posted the below as part of my UK posting, but thought i should do it on a seperate one for Ireland because I know how touchy a subject is.
We also stayed at the Old Ground Hotel. Like the above (I said it was friendly, clean safe, convenient, elegant and had great food for a decent price - less than $100 a night for my family of 4). Perfect for touring County Clare, near Cliffs of Moher, Blarney stone etc. It had everything.
Avoid the Travelodge near Dublin Airport if you can. Nuff said.

They must have lowered their prices after they built a new wing (2005); or maybe you stayed there in off-season: $100 is 80 Euro nowadays and it doesn't buy much Jun-Sep.
I like the Poet's Corner (Pub) in the Old Ground, but if I were to choose I think I would opt for the Temple Gate.

We stayed here last May and had no room booked on a Bank Holiday weekend for sat. We got a room for 150 euro even though there was a wedding on. I thought that was pretty good considering the weekend. 100 dollars is too cheap was it maybe in Euro?
I enjoyed my stay and we ended up crashing the afters of the wedding. Great night.

That is a great rate and yes we got rumbled by a guy at the bar he was from Dublin and said he will tell anyone if they asked that we are related. Its was fun. We even had a dance with him and his pals and avoided the bride and groom. It was a warm evening and a lot of the party was outside in the lawn. it was lovely.
