At Allard, my wife and I shared a dessert called "Paris Brest," basically a profiterole with butter cream, which was unbelievable! We had many outstanding desserts in our 2 weeks there but this was the best.

I agree with Laduree's macaroons, simply delicious. My other favorite was the Grand Marnier Souffle at La Fermette Marbeuf. To die for! Note that you have to order it at the beginning when you order the rest of your meal. Enjoy!

I just had it last week! It was outside a Loire Valley chateau (can't remember which one)..went to six. I was very tired and quickly glanced at the ice cream menu. I thought I was
ordering something like a sundae...it was called a Dauphine parfait. When it arrived I had a dish of SEVEN scoops of ice cream/sorbet. It had vanilla, dark chocolate with chunks, strawberry, apricot, tangerine, peach and raspberry.

I told myself I would just taste each one but it was so fabulous I ate the WHOLE thing. I then realized it was then famous Berthillion I had heard so much about. It is all true..the very, very best ice cream I have ever had. I had it two more times on my trip. I loved the coffee flavor and the vanilla was out of this world. Also the tangerine and apricot were right up there.

I also wondered each time I had creme brulee and creme caramel that maybe I should quit wasting time with dinner and go straight to dessert.

Paris is the only place where I can have dessert every night and not gain weight; all day walking is good for that.
The best ever tiramisu I had was in an italian bistro in Fontainebleau.
