GPS ?'s

We're renting a car in Chambrey and driving to Dijon, obviously stopping along the way for a few nights in Burgundy. Would renting a GPS through AutoEurope be worthwhile in this area? Someone mentioned that often it doesn't work, I guess depending on the area(mountains??) I have one (TomTom) in my car in New York and have had a few minor issues with it, but nothing major. My husband and I had a major fight the last time we were in France and I was reading the map when he was driving. I had the green Michelin guide for the area. However, this time it will be with my girlfriends, but I'd like to avoid all (if possible) areas of potential difficulties.
Thank you all for your imput.

Why not take your existing GPS and use that - after all you are used to it. All you need is a download of European maps

as for whether it's worth it - do a search for GPS on the Europe forum, there's plenty of advice

Can you not beg, borrow, steal or, if you must, buy the TomTom map for France and take your own TomTom with you since you know how to use it?

Getting Europe maps for your TomTom may be cheaper than renting one there.
