Good website for Bavaria
Can anyone recommend a good website for getting more information on travel in Bavaria. I am planning a trip and spend on staying two or three days exploring the area before heading to Munich.
Thanks!

Kateny,
The following link is just OK:
http://www.bayern.by/portal/frontend...ml&lang=en
I generally get the best information on individual town websites. Just Google the town name, or you can try this formula:
www.townname.de
Also try www.bensbauernhof.com for some great trip reports and accomodation suggestions.
By the way, Munich is actually in the state of Bavaria, but I assume you were talking about exploring the countryside prior to Munich.
Good luck with your research!

If the flight weren't so long, we'd go there every weekend. It's pretty central, they speak very passable English, the facilities were updated 2 years ago, and Klaus is a great chef.
It's maybe 8-9 miles north of Bad Mergentheim.

Which area in Bavaria would you like to explore? We have stayed in the Bertchtesgaden area (Schonau) and the Fussen area. Both are lovely but too far away from each other to consider really daytripping from one to the other.
We absolutely loved the Berchtesgaden area. Its not far from Salzburg (about a 20 minute drive). The town is lovely, and the scenery around the area is spectacular. Mt. Jenner and the Eagle's Nest both give incredible views and the boatride on the Konigssee is a must. There are also plenty of cute towns around the area (Bad Reichenhall, Ramsau, etc.). Check out http://www.berchtesgadener-land.info...1A71EAC9BC5CAF for more info.
You may also want to check out some of the lake towns along the Mondsee.
Good luck!
