justine..hope you decide to see Cadaques..it's worth a few days, especially for the Dali home.
By the way, the gist of my post was to explain why I didn't respond to your specific questions regarding lodging. Not a matter of appreciation...I don't seek that. My purpose here since 2005 is to share travel exeriences and amateur pix covering the years 1946-to recently. Happy to see you finally connected with lodgings in Istanbul...a favorite of mine and of several other Fodorites. Do you plan to visit other parts of the country while there? Try to take in Cappadocia and the Turquoise Coast if you have the time.
Happy travels.

Am very much enjoying Begur as a base for the Costa Brava. We have rented a lovely house in the old village where we walk in for anything we need. It's very easy getting in and out by car. Neighboring beaches with the hiking paths that connect them are beautiful. Great restaurants in the area: for instance Hostal Sa Tuna in Sa Tuna; Candelaria in Peradillada (sp?). Loved Casa Dali in Portligat and the castle of Gala in Pubol. Have been to the Greek ruins, Pals, and much more. So much to see and do here -- very enjoyable!
