Gökceada (Nissos Imros, inhabited by Greeks until 1919) is a beach destination.
Iznik (Nicea, capital of the Eastern roman Empire from 1204 until 1261) is a historical place, famous for it's ceramics.
Alacati is a scenic formerly Greek town close to the sandy beaches of Cesme.
Alacati is actually more popular with foreign tourists than the 2 other places.

Only Alacatı of the three has a night life.
I am writing this from Iznik, which i love as a slow city.and have a small getaway home.
If you consider coming to Iznik, get in touch with Darka Evleri to see if you can find a guest room. Otherwise, Camlik Hotel has the best location.
