Going to Italy Iin Sept end but no place to stay :-(

Hi….have been blessed with a last minute approval for leave from work and want to run to Italy from 25 Sept to 8 Oct. We are a 30 + couple from India with a 4 yrs old son who also loves to travel ! We went to Rome for 5 days last year but had to stay mostly indoors as our son got some stomach bug….so want to make up for that this time!
Itinerary : (does it seem OK?)
25-29----Venice
29-3------Florence---day trip?
3-8-------Rome

I need help to decide in the places to stay as most in our budget ( <=150Euro ) seem booked already (can’t blame anyone except my boss for the late “yes, you can go”) . I have done some basic research and shortlisted these….need your expertise on which seem better or if you think anything else is better. We want a location where we can cover maximum walking (and pushing a stroller!). And is there a ban on lifts in the building….seem to find none which have

Venice :
https://www.sleepinitaly.com/en/show...d_appartam=575
https://www.sleepinitaly.com/en/show...d_appartam=432

Florence :
https://www.sleepinitaly.com/en/show...d_appartam=333
https://www.sleepinitaly.com/en/show...d_appartam=513

Rome:
https://www.sleepinitaly.com/en/show...d_appartam=302
https://www.sleepinitaly.com/en/show...d_appartam=563
https://www.sleepinitaly.com/en/show...d_appartam=111
https://www.sleepinitaly.com/en/show...d_appartam=247

Please help…..I know I am asking for a lot in a little time but I need to book NOW to be actually able to travel!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Try www.venere.com for hotels. Is your €150 per day budget per person or in total? You will struggle a bit anywhere in central Venice or Rome at that rate, but I'm sure that posters on here will know of any possibilities for you.

If those apartments are in your budget and are available, I'm not sure what you are asking for. If you are asking whether they are well located, any apartment in Venice proper is well located. Florence is a very small city, and if the apartments are near the Ponte Vecchio, you are fine.

It appears your Rome choices are all in prime locations. The one near piazza del Popolo may be the most stroller friendly when it comes to sidewalks, but make sure it is on the side of the piazza that is near the via Ripetta and via Margutta (closer to the center) than the opposite side, which takes you further away from the historic sights.

The apartments in Florence are both fine, very good for teh price too. The first one (333) is on the Boboli Gardens side of the river, and only 2 blocks from Piazza Santo Spirito, which is great for an afternoon sit and beverage, or even for breakfast. It would take around 20mins to walk from your apartment to the Uffizi/Piazza della Signoria.

The second one (513) is hard to tell exactly where it's located, but suspect it's not far from the first one. It seems to have more indoor space, if that's a factor, and lovely aspect outside.

As for elevators/lifts, you'll find that many buildings which have been converted to hotels/apartments are historical and therefore can't have lifts added to them as it would a) compromise the historical integrity; and b) structurally they wouldn't support it. Just think of the exercise, and therefore the need to consume more excellent food for energy!

Hi, Shilpi,
If you go back to the Sleep in Italy website and put in your dates, you will find available places. The Venice apts you listed are not available for your dates; however, there are several that are. They also have listings for Rome and Florence, so you may be able to find all your places with them.

I do like venere.com for listings, although with a 4 yr old, you are probably able to find more space for the money with a small apartment.

Good luck! I think it's very doable to find affordable places, as long as you're flexible. You'll have a great trip!

have you googled "apartments in...."?

there are loads of apartment agencies which you have not mentioned the most obvious being the owner-advertised ones such as www.holiday-rentals.co.uk and www.vrbo.com. They tend to be cheaper as the agency is just acting as an advertiser/booking site, and you deal with the owner direct once you make an enquiry

As you are worried about stairs [and with a 4 year old, who wouldn't?] you could try the apartment we stayed in in Rome - www.lacasadiclelia.webs.com. - which is a ground floor apartment in the very centre, near the via coronari. It's within your budget, and has a separate bedroom for your 4 year old, which I think would work very well. and it has a/c, which may be useful in September.

good luck!

@tooz: It was awesome.....apart from the stairs (painful if you are with a child!), the place/location/apartment is perfect.
