Enjoy Florence. Save Rome for when you have the time to really enjoy it as well.

Hi

It is a hard decicion to make. On the one hand you don't want to rush seeing Florence and Tuscany...on the other hand you don't want to miss a great city like Rome. But it all depends where you are coming in from. I live in Norway and have the luxury of having Italy pretty close and over the years I have been to Italy three times...one trip to Milan/Venice, one to Rome and one to Florence and Tuscany.

I think in the end only you can decide Here is my Rome trip report with pictures from a couple of years back http://gardkarlsen.com/rome_italy.htm and I'm working on my Florence trip report. So send me a mail on [email protected] and I'll let you know when that is ready. Good luck with the planning and making up your mind

Regards
Gard

Thanks for all of your insightful input. I think much of the fun of these trips includes taking plenty of time to gather all the info and advice out there. To Karen, your website is beautiful. I will, however, have to look deep into the mirror to decide what makes my "heart sing." Thats a heavy. My wife would likely say that my heart sings to the music my stomach is making! All in fun. I hear you, though. Frankly, a no (or low)-stress vacation is what we seek and that likely means spending a lot of time learning one place-and adding in a day trip (or two if we see fit). Thanks for all the sound wisdom. Mark
