going from Nice to Italy

Hi,
My sisters and I will be flying into Nice in April. We will be staying in Eze, France for three days and then we want to go on to Italy. Our plans right now are to go to Milan, then on to Venice and finally ending up in Florence. Possibly returning through the Cinque Terre and back to Nice. We have 13 days to do this, excluding our stay in Eze. First question is what is the best way to travel from Eze to Milan? Next, any suggestions on improving our travel plans, as they are quite flexible, except for going and coming from Nice.

How are you getting from Nice (airport) to Eze in the first place? Use the same means to return to Nice train station ("Gare SNCF Nice Ville&quot.

From there, you will find trains to Milan, or if you seek to rent a car, to San Remo - - the closest destination in Italy, where car rental is conveniently close to the train station.

Best wishes,

Rex

Addendum: failed to look at where you actually want to visit in Italy (onward from Milan). Little, if any reason, to contemplate renting a car.

Hi Y,

You can fly from Nice to Venice and Rome to Nice at low cost via www.alpieagles.com.

Could you possibly cut out Milan? It would simplify your itinerary and give you an extra few days to spend either in Venice, Tuscany, or Cinque Terre.

Here's what I'd suggest:

Fly from Nice to Venice

Train from Venice to Florence

Train from Florence to Pisa

Two trains ( you need to switch at Genoa) from Pisa- Genoa, then Genoa- destinations along the Cinque Terre

OR you could get off in Genoa, take the local train to Santa Margherita, base there for a few days and day trip to towns along the Cinque Terre

Finally, train back to Genoa, and another train ( about 2.5 hours) to Nice.

YOu could also do this in reverse:

Train from Nice to Genoa.

Train from Genoa to Cinque Terre or Santa Margherita for a few days

Train from Genoa- Pisa

Train from Pisa- Florence

Train from Florence- Venice

Train from Venice- Nice

Good luck!
