gtg - no, it's not hard. Find a hosting site (the original is www.blogspot.com), choose one of their templates and start posting. It's all pre-formatted.
This may or may not be a pain when you want to add photos (but you can also upload photos to a site like Flickr, of which there are quite a few - and link from the blog to the photo in a range of sizes).
There are also all sorts of things you can add to customise it.

We use posterous for our blog. Well, we use posterous, wordpress and facebook for it -- but my husband (the computer geek) set that up. With posterous you set up an account and then all you have to do is email them your blog entries and they add it to your blog. Photos, videos, words, etc. You can pick the format, style, theme etc (as you can with wordpress and blogspot).
It feels a bit self indulgent sometimes. Like, does anyone really care how many castles we visited this month? But the grandparents check it constantly, the rest of the friends and family pop in regularly. At this point though, it's more for us than for anyone else!

Glad to hear it's going so well, and that the blog is helpful. Health food stuff... well, you may already have found the frighteningly expensive Whole Foods (as in the US store) in Kensington (a 328 bus ride away - by far the quickest way to get there)... they have a pretty good range of that stuff. Otherwise look out for the Holland & Barrett chain, there's one in Swiss Cottage (that's the Finchley Road).
I hear good things about the bagels at Roni's bakery on West End Lane (about 2 doors down from The Wet Fish - really glad you enjoyed it after my sales pitch... if you're around in the morning you might bump into the owner who also has a Canadian connection).
The "other way" is Kilburn - with its live music venues and cheap kebab shops (go to the former and avoid the latter).
Please feel free to mail me (there's a button on the blog) if you want to to know more - I don't keep much of an eye on this page. If I don't know the answer, I've got a thousand local twitter followers who surely will!
Hope you continue to enjoy both the neighbourhood and London more broadly - if you want to meet for a coffee sometime, just shout.
Jonathan

Don't mean to intrude but the awry afish also has live music, right? And I'd love to read your blog just for your perceptions of London life. You're obviously living a dream that many people can't.

I think I could also do the 7th.
I'd have to get someone to cover for me on Friday morning but I can't see that being a problem.
So that's jamikins and bikerscott, sashh, me, maybe Jonathan/WHampstead - what about the goddess and mr goddess?
Anyone else?

Well, we won't make a point of going to Whole Foods but if we're in the neighbourhood and pass by...
We will make a point of going to Roni's bagels, though. We walked by it last night and mentioned it. When we get back from Portugal next week, Jonathan, maybe we'll treat you to a bagel and a cup of coffee!
Will definitely explore Kilburn then too. We're big live music fans -- blues in particular.

julia_t - put me down as maybe. I'm a SAHM and once I get my son off to school I'm free all day. The only problem is I'm a bit of a chicken and have never been to a gtg before!
The 7th is fine for me.
