Glasgow Hotel Suggestions?
My husband and I will be in Glasgow for the last night of a 10 day trip through Scotland and London. I am looking for a suggestion for a hotel in Glasgow. Centrally located would be great so that we can easily walk to sights during our short stay there.

As an aside, I used this forum as my travel agent last year when planning a 6 week European trip. Such wonderful suggestions and comments.

Thanks for the help

You could try the Malmaison hotel, which is more of a boutique hotel. It has rooms costing £99 or less, perhaps £75, which I think includes breakfast. The one in Edinburgh is lovely, as is the one in Manchester. Rooms are very elegant and modern and have C D players, computer points etc. Stylish and central.

OK 2 Suggestions (and this is the fourth attempt at posting-hope it works this time)

Cheap and cheerful the Holiday Inn Express very central and about £40 per person per night)

Or Adelaide's Guest House in Bath Street. About the same price and highly recommended. I did have the pone number when I tried to post from home last night, but I don't have it here. let me know if you are interested and need it.
Dear MWW,

I live in Glasgow.
The Holiday Inn Express ( Stockwell Street) is quite new and is in a great location on the edge of the River Clyde,
ten minutes walk to George Square and even less to the main shopping areas.
You might also try another Holiday Inn Express ( 165 West Nile Street ) .
This is also very well located near to the Royal Concert Hall as well as still being only ten minutes from George Square & shopping.
The Malmaison is more upmarket, as is the Arthouse Hotel in Bath Street which is another more expensive 'boutique' style hotel.
You might also try the Jarvis Ingram Hotel in Ingram Street. Very centrally located, on the doorstep of everything Glasgow has to offer.
By the way, if you enjoy real Italian food , pop into Sarti in Bath Street if you have the time. Reserve a table for dinner after 8..it can be busy....not expensive.
Also, try not to miss Princess Square in Buchanan Street ( City Centre ). Lovely indoor designer mall with upscale shops & eateries. Enjoy your stay.

Hi,
I'd appreciate the phone number or e-mail, if available, for Adelaide's Guest House. My daughter is in Glasgow for a year with a flat on Fairley Park Drive. How far away is the Bath Street area, or the Malmaison? It also sounds nice.
Thanks!
Fairley Park Drive is in Partick, 3 miles west of the city centre.
All the places in the posts so far are in the city centre.
You are 3 minutes walk from Partick Underground station (fast & frequent to city) or 2 minutes from Dumbarton Road, where there are lots of buses.
There are plenty of nearer hotels & guesthouses in the West End. (eg Pond Hotel - here's a site you can search by preferences http://www.holiday.scotland.net/accommodation/index.htm )
don't know if Adelaide's is there.
The city is so easy by Underground you may as well stay there, though there are interesting parts in the West End : kelvingrove park,Glasgow university & the Kelvin Hall. This area is the bohemian part of Glasgow & has the best delicatessins.
