Glasglow to Edinburgh

Hi Everyone, I am going to be traveling through Ireland and Scotland. Do you all know the easiest, least expensive way to get from Glasglow to Scotland? I was thinking about a bus, train, or renting a car....what do you all think? Thanks!

I did this trip last October via train. Very simple and inexpensive; a rental car would be far more expensive and not worthwhile for such a short journey. Easiest and least expensive might not necessarily be the same. The easiest is probably train as both cities are well serviced with stations relatively smack dab in the middle of the city. We rented a car and also found that painless as both cities are linked by well-signed major highway/motorways and exits and entrances are quite painless if you avoid rush hour (same as in US). Car rental in UK is not cheap but you can get deals for extended stays. It would certianaly not be worth to rent a car just for going from Ed. to Glasgow as its less than half a days travel.

As an Edinburgh person, I have often thought that Glasgow could not be part of Scotland, but I know many, if not all, Glaswegians will insist it is! IMO, the quickest and simplest way would be by train.

It's like we say about Anchorage. The best thing about it is that it's 20 minutes from Alaska. Take the train. But in rush hours (big commuter route) don't believe the 45 min. myth. There are bus services, cheaper but slower.

The cheapest and most convenient is by coach (bus); the company is Scottish Citylink, buses run every 20 minutes during the day, the journey takes 70 minutes and one way fare is about £4. Train will be 20 minutes faster and about twice the price. I have taken it and it is very comfortable.
