Getting to Paris from Neuschwanstein Castle

At the beginning of the last week of our 3 week trip in mid-March 2006, we will make a brief detour into Munich (from Genoa), renting a car to visit the Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein Castles. After visiting the castles we plan to stay either in Fussen or Kempten (I spent time in Kempten after college and would like to to make a quick stop there.)

From Fussen or Kempten our goal is to get to Paris as soon as possible. Our current plan is to drive to Bern, Switzerland, then catch the high speed train to Paris (or we may drive only to Zurich, then catch a train to Bern.)

Does anyone know what the drive will be like from Fussen or Kempten to Zurich or Bern? How long will it take? Would we be better off taking the train all the way from Munich to Fussen, from Fussen to Kempten, and then on to Zurich, Bern and Paris?

Any help you can give would be apprecaiated.

Thanks!
