Getting to Keukenhof's

Hi everyone,
we are arriving in Amsterdam on May 20 in the early afternoon, the last day Keukenhof's are open. The garden is open till 8 pm. What is the latest time we can we can leave for Keukenhof's? what is the fastest way to get there? How long does it take? are the any day tours? Can I get recommendations on the tours in Amsterdam in general, besides Keukenhof's?
Thanks

Here's a pretty good thread on Keukenhoff. Put Keukenhoff in the search box, and you will come up with several threads that give suggestions about transportation there. (Sorry if you can't just click on the site I am listing. I don't know how to make it come up as a link.) I am going to the gardens in just over a week. Enjoy adn I will too. PJK

You'll get better results if you search for Keukenhof.

Train to Leiden, bus (#54?) to the gardens...check www.ns.nl for train times (don't forget to note the return times as well!)

We took best of holland's 4.5 hr bus tour. It took about 45 minutes to get there, and we went past several tulip fields on the way (the driver also took us through one of them winding around it before getting back on the road to the garden). We had 2.5 hrs of actual time in the garden which I thought was plenty.

To get info on the tours in amsterdam go to www.asiacompass.nl, www.keytours.nl, or www.grayline.com. They all pretty much do the same tours.

I hope this reply is not too late. If u r arriving in the afternoon, u might consider taking the direct train from Schipol airport (ie if u r arriving by plane) or central station 13.70 euro(if by train) to leiden. (half-hourly, journey about 30 mins). then, when u get out of the train station go to the connexxion bus office and buy the bus+ entrance fee inclusive to Keukenhoff (#54) 16.00 euro. The bus journey takes about 20 mins and u dont have to queue to buy the entrance fee. There are also tours to keukenhoff from city centre from 28 euro but the departure time is at 10 am or 2 pm and if u r arriving in the afternoon, u might miss it. The brochure of Keukenhoff states that the ticket office is open till 6.00 pm and the park closes at 7.30 pm. anyway, wish u all the best and have a lovely time there.
