Getting to Granada from Madrid

I'm studying abroad in Granada for fall semester and I need to get there from Madrid by the evening of August 29. It seems as though the train is sold out from the 27th to the 29th. Anyone have recommendations as to how to get there by bus or any other cheap method? Thanks.

I am surprised to know that train tickets are sold out two months in advance. Does this apply to bus tickets also ? We are planning on being in Spain from 31st August to 11th September, and plan to do a lot of travel by bus/train. Is it necessary to book tickets in advance ?

My daughter has made the trip multiple times by both bus and train, and prefers bus. We did the trip by bus from Madrid to Granada a few years ago on the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter Sunday - a very busy time in Spain. We either bought the tickets on the day, or the day before. I understand they put extra buses on at busy times.

I booked a flight on Spanair from Granada to Madrid in September and it was only 4 euros. The taxes and fees made it like 30 euros in all, but it was still cheaper than the train! Check it out!
