Getting to beaches from Begur
Hi! I'm considering staying in Begur for a few days in August, and I was wondering how easy it would be to get to the beaches. It looks close by on the map, but will it be a problem with parking, etc.? Thanks in advance!

We just stayed at the Parador near Begur (Parador Aiguablava) that was great and on a beautiful beach, but we rented a car and drove to Begur for the market. Not really sure how one would get to the beach from town, but you might e-mail the hotels you are considering and ask how far away they are from the beach.
I would highly recommend both the Parador and renting a car.

It will be very crowded in the area around Begur during August. There is parking available at several of the beach locations, but extremely limited. All of the beaches around Begur; Fornells, Aigua, Tamariu and Llafranc, are located in coves at the base of the cliffs.
As artlover has already recommended, the Parador Aiguablava has one of the best locations, although the beach is fairly small. The largest beach area is to the north, between L'Escala and Roses.

thanks! i have been looking at that Parador... My one concern is that it would be inconvenient to get to a town at night for restaurants, bars, etc. Did you find that to be the case?
Also, were the rooms air-conditioned and did they have internet connections (and was it wireless)?
I'm beginning to wonder if Tossa de Mar isn't a better choice for us... My concern for that was whether it was too built-up, etc.

I'd go with the Parador, superior room on the 3rd floor. Rooms are air-conditioned and excellent views.
Begur, with the best restaurants and tapas bars in the immediate area, is only a few minutes drive once you realize how close it is. The Parador also has an excellent restaurant and bar.
There is Wi-Fi service, but you'll have to pay a couple of euros.
Tossa de Mar is just as overcrowded in August.
