Getting married in Capri or Ravello???

I am newly engaged. We are considering getting married in Capri or Ravello this summer. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to get married in these two places?? Anyone have any suggestions for wedding planners based in Capri or Ravello? I am looking for a really detailed wedding planner -- like the type of planners in the US. I don't want a "package wedding". I find most of the wedding planners in Italy look all the same when I check online and it is overwhelming. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

I'm not very expert in weddings, but I know the places you mentioned.
Capri and Ravello are two completely different places. Capri is very fashionable, frequented by VIPs. It is an island not reachable by car, and when the summer is filled with tourists I think it does not offer many chances to treat the details of a marriage.
Ravello is a village instead on a rock overlooking the sea, a bit secluded but during the summer there are many who visit it, because they also organize many cultural events.
I do not know if you're Catholic, in which case the Cathedral of Ravello could be a wonderful setting. In there you could find many wonderful reception facilities.
As for a wedding planner, I believe that if you are not satisfied by the Italian ones, you can also request to European operators. I worked sometimes with Swiss and French services related to weddings in Tuscany and in the Roman countryside.

Have you looked in the bridal magazine and web sites to see those who specialize in all of the legal complexities of actually getting married in Italy?

For this particular question, I might suggest that you visit the "Campania" discussion forum on tripadvisor.com, which seems to be populated with a large number of (1) people planning weddings in the region; (2) wedding service providers; and (3) people in category 2 masquerading as category #1. You may have to sort through the credible and not so credible, but if you go there and do a search on "wedding" I'm confident you will find a lot of practical information. Good luck!

I'm no foreign-wedding expert, but I'd advise Capri.

Both Ravello and Capri are great places. I do love the idea of an island wedding though.
We got married 2 summers ago in Capri. We hired Diana Sorensen from Sugokuii-events.com for the event. I believe it is the only wedding planner in Capri, when you want a 100% customized wedding with an attention to every single detail. And she is half American, which I liked, because I don't speak Italian. I recently received a new years newsletter from her, and heard that a wedding she did this summer is featured in Vogue Wedding (Vogue Sposa).
She can be contacted by e-mail to [email protected]. Hope this helps. Good luck with your wedding.
Charlotte.
